HWSA Scholarships

HWSA will award three $1000 college scholarships to Houston area women in 2009. Deadline to submit the application & all supporting materials is Thursday, April 30, 2009. Forward any questions to president@hwsa.org.

APPLICANT CRITERIA

Applicant must be:
A) a female high school or youth club soccer player or
B) a female current year HWSA soccer player (registered with an active HWSA team after September 1, 2008)
Applicant must be:
A) a female graduating high school senior who will be attending a college or university, or
B) a female undergraduate student currently attending a college or university.
Applicant must have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Applicant must submit the complete scholarship application and return it to HWSA with all appropriate supporting materials no later than April 30, 2009.

SELECTION CRITERIA
Preference will be given to those who require financial assistance to achieve their educational goals, and who have demonstrated exceptional involvement and service to the community.

PROCEDURES
The original application and all supporting materials must be received by Houston Women’s Soccer Association (HWSA) before or on April 30, 2009. Mail all documentation to the address below. All applications become property of HWSA and will not be returned. All scholarship winners will be contacted personally and announced on the HWSA website. The decision of the HWSA scholarship committee is final. Proof of college or university registration is required. Scholarship funds will be awarded at an official HWSA scholarship dinner.
