OFFICER REPORTS

President:
1. For Hot Shots information, see Vicky after the meeting.

Vice president
1. D&P committee met just before the league meeting. On 7/26 a member of the Motley Crew team was involved in an incident which resulted in a charge of referee abuse/assault with TSSAS. We are suspending the player for the rest of the summer season, pending investigation. Due to another similar charge against the same team, Motley Crew will be on probation through the end of the fall season. Letters will be going out.

Secretary
1. Once again, check to make sure I have your email address correct.
2. Thanks to those of you who have paid your fines promptly. Those of you who haven't, don't forget!

Treasurer
Last year the league lost around $1500 which depleted the cushion in the bank. Some of the loss was due to an increase in the cost of coed fields and the cost of the women's tournament. In order to prevent future losses, player fees are going to increase as noted. The increase is in effect for fall registration. Women's will increase $4 to $20 (women pay for their own fields). Coed will increase $5 to $25. Corporate is the same as coed. Summer U-23 women's soccer will increase to $23. The discount on insurance for women's/coed multi-team players will remain at $7.75.

Registrar
1. The new program is installed to handle registration, and so far no problems have been found with it.
2. Registration packages will be coming to the team reps by 8/11 for the fall season. It will contain the registration forms, player cards, etc. Please call/email Tom if you have any questions. You have until the September meeting to get everything turned in.
3. There are no player cards or stickers available, Tom will process them as soon as he gets them.

Senior commissioner
1. Pam and Jen will be attending the state meeting in El Paso. Many different leagues will be in attendance to discuss good/bad concerns about state policy. If you have an issue you would like discussed, let Pam or Jen know so they can bring it up.
2. The National Coed Tournament is in League City, Sept. 24-26. One HWSA team, Red Dogs, is entered. Teams are coming from all over the country. There may still be an opening for one team. Hopefully, we'll have more information next month. Tom has the application. There is a $500 bond which is lost if you don't show up.
3. The HWSA women's fall tournament, Oktoberfest (Oct. 9/10), is coming up. Deadline for registration is September 8.
4. TORSO is putting on a coed tournament in Houston Oct. 16/17.                                      5. The HWSA coed tournament is tentatively scheduled for February. Tom Warzwyk is looking for sponsors. More info later.

Women's Commissioner
1. 4 new teams for the fall. Divisions have not been decided yet.

Coed commisioner
1. Fall looks good with 30 teams. Summer season standings are available on the website but there are still lots of make-up games. The make-up schedule will be posted on the web.
2. Referee problems at coed games: There should be NO slide tackling. NO contact at all! We will work on disseminating this to the referees. Please fill out referee evaluations if you have good OR bad comments. That will help HWSA and the referees. The evaluation form is on the website.

Corporate commissioner
1. Entrix is leading Division 1, Petrobras is leading Division 2.                                           2. There may be 3 divisions in the fall.
3. There was a discussion to among Corp. reps to convince Tony to remain the Commissioner. The reps will be assisting him with marking fields and paying fines, etc.

OLD BUSINESS

€ Reminder, if you're in a tournament and need to be excused from your scheduled league game, let Mary or Tom know well in advance.

NEW BUSINESS

Referee fees
We are competing to get referees against high schools for high quality referees (state and nationally certified) and need to consider an increase to keep them coming out to our games. Hal proposed an increase of $10 (from $30 to $40) per game. The increase will be voted on at next month's meeting.

Referee issues
if you have a concern, please contact Hal at halbecker99@yahoo.com. If there are repeated problems reported, Hal can have the referee assessed. The suggestion was made that teams should review rules such as slide tackling, 10 minutes out/yellow card, unlimited goals for men, etc. before the game begins. Another was to send rules out to the referees, post them on the web, and include them on the game card.

Over 30 women's league
starts up in Jan/Feb. Optional fall games may be possible. This league doesn't interfere with any of the HWSA leagues. Contact Rose Leverton, rvl@neosoft.com or Georgia Monnerat, gamonnerat@dow.com.

New Player Clinic
HWSA is going to start sponsoring these at least twice a year for women. This Saturday (8/8) out at the Alief fields is going to be the first one. If you would like to come and learn or come and help, HWSA would love to have you. All skill levels are welcome. Drinks, door prizes, and balls will be provided. We're asking a $3 donation to offset costs. See Stephen for more information.

Coach
A new women's team is looking for a coach. Contact Katy at kcouch@ix.netcom.com if you're interested.
