HOUSTON WOMEN'S SOCCER ASSOCIATION MINUTES OF MEETING

May 30, 2001

 

The meeting was called to order by Jen Cooper, President, at Saengerbund Hall at 7:30 p.m.

 

ROLL CALL

Women's Teams Absent: Red Hot Chicks, Rox

                                   

Coed Teams Absent:  None

                                                                              

New Teams Present: Mirage

 

Board Members Absent: Cassie Powell- Senior Commissioner

 

MINUTES:

Minutes from the April 25, 2001 meeting were approved as submitted.

 

OFFICER REPORTS

President:

1.      Coed Player Registration Today:  Check in, and check fines.

2.      Get rules for each Coed Rep. All reps must abide by rules.

3.      Summer Season Starts June 17.

 

Vice president:

1.      Need to meet with the members of the  D&P committee.

2.      Need to see teams Amistad and Houston City.

      

Secretary:

    Please pay outstanding fines for yellow cards, red cards and missed meetings.

 

Registrar:

1.      Player ID cards for St. Thomas and Marathon Madness were returned in the mail. Please see Tom to clarify address.

2.      Please call before you come to my house to drop off anything.

3.      If you have a correction for the roster send an e-mail.

 

Treasurer:

  1. Budget report: 2000/2001 FY receipts of $83,000; expenses of $79,000; General checking account at $27,000,  Money Market account at $1680.
  2. We have a $10,000 surplus for fields.
  3. The proposed Budget for 2001-2002 year makes a comparison with the last 3 years. The base is on a reasonable estimate on the last 2 years. We are expecting growth for the fall.
  4. We will be voting on the FY 01/02 budget at the August 1sst meeting.
  5. State Cup refunds for TNT, Psychos, and IBF need to see Patti for their State Cup refunds.
  6. Teams with NSF issues need to see Patti: Latin Jules, Chaos, and Synergy Coed.

 

Senior Commissioner

Cassie was absent. Jen presided.                                       

  1. Beaumont Coed tournament is on June 9-10.
  2. Coed National Cup will be in Dallas in late September. June 1 is the deadline to register. The league will pay the bond fee for each team that wants to participate.
  3. Latin Jules and United Nomads qualified in the Quickfoot Tournament to go to Nationals in Dallas, Way to Go!!!!

 

Women's Commissioner:

1.       Please fill out the game report properly, report any injuries that occur during the game.

2.       Awards were handed out to the following teams:

Division 1: Memorial

Division 2: Mexico 2000/Latin Jules*

Division 3: Rangers

Division 4: Shooting stars/PWC*

 

*Teams currently tied for first place will be determined after all games are completed.

 

3. The goal for next season is to have enough teams so there are no byes.

           

Coed Commissioner:

 

  1. Still two weekends of Coed games.

 

Field Coordinator

 

  1. We will be meeting with the people from Cullen Park in reference to locking the park too early. There have been incidents where players where locked in the parking lot after the game.

 

Membership Coordinator:

 

1.      Volunteers needed to help with women’s membership. Please see Jen or Mary.

 

OLD BUSINESS

None.

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

       1. An issue was brought up concerning club teams playing in the same division. Some teams feel this is unfair. Players can switch teams but must sit out two games before returning to primary team. The rules are in the By Laws.  If this is a problem ask Mary to look at the game reports. Further investigation on this matter will be handled by the board before the fall season.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS

    

       1. NO JULY MEETING.

  1. Men State Cup Finals are June 3, 2001. Division 2 plays at 11:00. Division 1 plays at 1:00. We have 3 Houston teams playing.
  2. There is an opening for a Girls Soccer Coach at Westbury High School, if you know someone please let Stephen Jump know.
