The meeting was called to order by Jen Cooper, President, at Saengerbund Hall at 7:30 p.m.

Minutes
from the April 4, 2001 meeting were approved as submitted.
President:
1.
Kevin
New of Orange Crush presented the winners of the HWSA scholarships.
Stacy Barton of Katy High School is planning to
attend A&M University.
Sarah Dearing of Cyfair High School is planning to
attend Baylor University.
Christina Solis of Lamar High School is planning to
attend A&M University.
Each
winner received a check for 1,000 dollars and an HWSA T-shirt. Congratulations
to the winners. THANKS KEVIN for handling the committee.
2.
HWSA
needs a few volunteers to help with concessions at the Quickfoot 6v6 Tournament
on May 19 at Bear Creek. Let Jen or Patti know if you are interested. To play
in the tournament, check the website. Deadline is May 9.
3.
We
need a new Coed Membership coordinator, so if you are interested see Jen.
4.
Houston
Hurricanes are giving FREE ADMISSION to all current players. Must show current
players cards, however be careful not to lose your players’ cards.
Vice
president:
Bill Link was late. Tom Whitehurst reported the findings of the D&P
committee:
1. Gustavo Castro of coed team 1800s accused of assaulting referee. He
was suspended for 15 games. A double grievance was filed in mid February – coed
team Voyagen filed against Orange Crush and vice versa. The result: the Voyagen
team rep was suspended for 3 games. And Bill Link of Orange Crush was
admonished for unsporting conduct.
Referee abuse and assault (both verbal and physical) are taken very
seriously by the league, and also must be reported to the state D&P
committee.
Secretary:
Please pay
outstanding fines for yellow cards, red cards and missed meetings.

Warzywak was absent. Jen presided.

player cards are missing the name of their teams so please call or e-mail Tom
if you have not received all your player cards.

Spring
registration is closed.

The
Fiesta tournament was great. La Pandilla won 1st division, Kodiaks
won 3rd division, United Cosmos won the Consolation bracket in 3rd
division. Way to go, girls.
2.
Memorial
Day Tournament is in Dallas, your team needs a travel permit, so give to Cassie
to send to State. Allow at least two weeks.
3.

was absent. Jen presided.
1.
Jen and Stephen met with the City Field Coordinator. Memorial Park might be
used for the Fall. There are other fields in the Alief area that we are looking
at.
Tournament
Quickfoot
6v6 is May 19 Bear Creek. Application forms now available. Teams can be formed
by any players – don’t have to come from existing teams but must be registered
players. If you win you can go to Nationals in Dallas in July.

Motion
was made and seconded to accept slate as presented. Slate elected with no
opposing or abstaining votes. Congrats to new and re-elected members.
Team
registration for summer coed:
Turn
in form and deposit at end of the meeting, and pick up player registration
packet. All player registration is due at May 30th meeting.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
1.
HWSA
will pay for the soda & beer at the player registration meetings in May 30th
-- be sure to join us.
2.
Player
registration due May 30th.
3. There is a scholarship available for a
goalkeeper from a small college in Kentucky; contact ref assignor Hal Becker
