MINUTES
The meeting was called to order by Jen Cooper, President, at 7:33 p.m. at Saengerbund Hall.

OFFICER REPORTS
President:
1. There was a good show of volunteers for the HWSA Coed Tournament from each team. Thanks for the help. HWSA will continue to require one volunteer from each team for the Women's and Coed Tournaments.
2. There were a few problems reported about the Coed Tournament.
3. If someone has a complaint they want the board to act on, they need to file a grievance. Without a grievance, there is nothing that can be done. There is a $10 fee to file the grievance, but it the board agrees with the grievance, the amount is refunded.
4. Elections will be held in May for the posts of Vice President, Registrar and Treasurer. Volunteers are needed. If you are interested in running for a post, please let Patti Ernst know.
5. The State meeting will be held on March 4. HWSA will be sending representatives.
6. U-23 will be starting soon. Liz Benavidez will be the Commissioner. Volunteers are needed to help with the league.
Vice president:
No report.
Secretary:
If there is a team representative not getting the minutes, please inform George Barnes so that the problem can be remedied.
Registrar:
1. Tom Warzywak has a number of player cards. If you are missing any, please see him.
2. Please only have team reps contact Tom, not coaches or players.
3. Player are cards and registration forms are being submitted without being properly filled out. Before submitting paperwork for a player, make sure everything is filled out properly.
4. Tom received paperwork for Lucia Marks and Gustram Hiller, without an indication of which team they are affiliated with. Please contact Tom if either of these players is on your team
5. Tom has rosters available for each team with registered players.
6. When submitting a check, put the name of the team in the memo section. This will ensure proper credit is given for money received.
Treasurer:
The missing check for $9,100 paid to the state in fall 1998 has been located. The state has it and will process it in the future.
Senior commissioner:
1. The deadline to sign up for the Coed State Cup is March 2.
2. Fiesta is April 29 &endash;30 In San Antonio. The deadline to sign up is March 31. Information is available on the HWSA web site.
Women's Commissioner:
1. Please give at least 2 weeks notice to the women's commissioner if your team will be playing in a tournament. This will allow for rescheduling of games and reassigning referees. This is not needed for Fiesta as HWSA takes that weekend off.
2. Mary DeBauche has schedules and directories for all teams. The schedule is also available on the HWSA web site. Also, check the web site for the colors of the opposing team. If there is a conflict, the home team is supposed to change.
3. There is a girls U15/16 team which won state last year that would like to scrimmage a women's team. Contact Mary DeBauche if your team would be interested.
4. Rice's byes do not correspond to their spring break. They would like to switch weeks in the schedule so that their byes come on March 5 and March 12.
5. Those teams who play their home games at Bear Creek or Alief will be receiving invoices. Please pay these promptly.
6. There was a problem with the referee being 40-50 minutes late for Kodiaks game on February 27. Also, the ref left the field at one point while play was going on. If there are problems with any referees, please be sure to inform Hal Becker, the referee assignor.
Coed Commissioner:
1. Tom Whitehurst has the latest schedule and team directories. Please check them for accuracy.
2. There will be one game play on Sunday and one game on Monday each week at League City. The drive to League City is roughly the same, if not slightly shorter than the drive to Cy-Fair. There is a map to the League City field on the HWSA web site, <http://www.hwsa.org/>www.hwsa.org.
3. Some of the referees have been confused by the coed rules. There is a short description on the game card. Tom will also post a more detailed description for the referees on the HWSA web site.
Field Coordinator:
Efforts continue to find more fields closer in than League City and Cy-Fair. HWSA cannot get more fields at Bear Creek. HWSA is working with UT-Houston Rec Center to get a field there for the fall season, as well as a field in the West University/Stella Link area. If you know of lighted fields which are available, please let Stephen Jump know.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Membership:
There are still people calling looking for coed and women's teams. If you have a need for players, please contact either Bill Link or Piper Madland.
Public Relations:
No report.
Tournament:
1.The Coed Tournament went well. There are still short sleeve t-shirts available. Contact Jen Cooper if you would like some.
2.Teams may turn in their Quickfoot registration information at the April and May league meetings.
3.A Tournament Coordinator is needed for the Women's and Coed Tournaments. If you would be interested, please let Jen Cooper know.
Scholarship:
Volunteers are needed to help read through scholarship applications and letters of recommendation. If you would be interested in helping, please contact Sandra Olmo.
OLD BUSINESS
Mugs are available for the second place teams from the Fall season.
