OFFICER REPORTS

President:

1. For the co-ed tournament on February 19 and 20, every team in HWSA is to provide a volunteer to assist with the tournament.

2. First place awards are available for each team for the fall season. There was a printing error on the second place awards and these will be handed out after they are returned from the printer.

Vice president:

No report.

Secretary:

Please pay all fines directly to the Secretary, George Barnes, not to the treasurer or the league commissioner. The secretary tracks who has paid fines and who hasn't.

Treasurer:

For the current playing year (September 1, 1999-present) HWSA has had an inflow of $51,551 and an outflow of $47,000. The checking account has approximately $11,000, but there is an outstanding check to the state of $9,000.

Registrar:

For the spring season, there is no discount for multiple players, even if a player is signing up for the first time. The discount on the insurance only applies in the fall. The fee is $20/player for women, $25/player for coed.

Senior commissioner:

1. Women's State Cup will be April 1st and 2nd in San Antonio. The entry fee is $225 and needs to be paid by February 2.

2. Coed State Cup is May 6th and 7th in San Antonio. The entry fee is $225 and must be paid by March 1st.

3. For State Cup, no guest players are allowed. Rosters are final 30 days before the tournament.

4. Fiesta Tournament has been moved to April 29th and 30th.

5. Not many HWSA teams have registered for the HWSA Coed Tournament. HWSA needs our teams to support our tournament. It was suggested that the tournament not be scheduled so close to the spring registration date because it requires asking players for more money right after paying the registration fee. The tournament is scheduled in the Spring so teams will already have a roster of players from the fall season to register for the tournament.

Women's Commissioner:

1. There will be 24 teams this Spring, 6 in each division. Azteca Feminil and Fusion (previously called Meadows as Well) will be in 4th division. En Foque De Portivo will play either 1st or 2nd division.

2. The season will start February 13th. There will be time off for the Coed Tournament (February 20th), Easter (April 23rd) and Fiesta Tournament (April 30th).

Coed Commissioner:

1. Tom is trying to get one more field for the spring season. If this happens, the Cy-Fair field will not be used any more.

2. Schedules are available, but they may change if a new field is found and the Cy-Fair fields can be dropped.

3. Tom has the following new numbers:

Work: 281-600-1000

Fax: 281-600-1001

4. Make sure players that play on your team are registered for that league. Women who are registered with a women's team must also be registered for a coed team for them to play with that team. There will be spot checks of rosters to make sure players who play are eligible.

Field Coordinator:

No report.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Membership:

1. There are players available for coed teams, mostly men or women who are paired with a male. Contact Bill Link if you need players.

2. Piper Madland is the new Women's Membership chair woman. She will perform this role until June when Vicky Jackson takes over. Piper can be reached at 409-321-0763. Note that despite the 409 area code, this is a local call in Houston.

3. There will be a new player roundup on Sunday, February 6 at 1:00 at the Bank Draft. Teams may also register for the HWSA Coed Tournament and bring player registration forms.

Public Relations:

HWSA has purchased a license to allow teams to create a e-mail lists for their teams. For more information, contact Alex Flenner at aflenner@excite.com.

Tournament:

1. Volunteers are needed to distribute Quickfoot registration forms to area soccer stores. If there is a soccer store in your area, please take some forms to them and ask them to display them.

2. The registration fee for Quickfoot is $210 and is due by May 6. Teams that finish first or second in their bracket qualify for the national tournament in Dallas on July 29.
