MINUTES OF MEETING

November 7, 2001

 

The meeting was called to order by Jen Cooper, President, at Saengerbund Hall at 7:30 p.m.

 

ROLL CALL

Minutes from the October 10, 2001 meeting were approved as submitted.

 

OFFICER REPORTS
 

President:

1.      Problems with yellow card rule in Coed league: TORSO changed rule in their league that a yellow-carded player must go off the field for 10 without a sub. HWSA rule has not changed. Game report has been updated to include rule that no sub is allowed for yellow cards. Referees will be notififed about this problem.

 

2.      Over 30’s Women: flyer has preliminary info about the schedule, registration and cost. We will be having a clinic on Saturday, December 1 and a round-up Monday, December 17. Shelly West will be the Commissioner.

 

3.      We are working with the Facilities Coordinator in Rice University and Bob Yampey, the South Texas State President. to get a WUSA exhibition game here in the spring or fall. WUSA is looking for non-franchise cities to host pre-season and post-season games so they can test other markets. There’s a link on the website — please visit. Any ideas about this please talk to Jen.

 

4.      Next meeting is the team registration deadline for spring — Wednesday January 9. All teams must turn in the team registration form and a $100 deposit. The team registration form will be online after Thanksgiving and you can submit online also.

 

Vice president:

1.      Meeting with the D&P committee after conclusion of league meeting.

    

Secretary:

1.      Please pay your fines. All fines will be collected at league meetings only. Please see Patti and Marlene.

 

 

Registrar:

Tom was absent. Jen presided.

 

1.      November 15 is the last date to add any new players to rosters. Anything after that date will be process for the spring season.

 

Treasurer:

  1. Field invoices for women’s team are available for: Alliance, Houston Stars, La Pandilla, Mexico 2000 and Synergy.
  2. We have $42,853 in the bank and Money Market is $1,700. The money market is going to be put in a new CD. It will be done before the end of the year.
  3. In December, we will write a big check for state player and team fees.

 

Women's Commissioner:

  1. Standings are as follows:

 

                        1st division: Footloose/Memorial  

                        2nd division: Cosmos/ Fever

                        3rd division: Nomads/Arsenal

                        4th division: Red Hot Chicks/ Milagros & Synergy tied.

  1. Many rescheduled games, especially in division 1, 2 rainout weekends will be scheduled at the end of the season. Any other reason for makeup, each team rep needs to reschedule on their own. Use Alief on Thursday and G.O.A.L.S. is also available. Clear field thru Mary.
  2. In December, we will be purchasing fall awards so let Mary know of any ideas.
  3. This is Mary’s last meeting; she will be spending more time with her family. Lisa Vosdali is taking over next season, her e-mail is vosdali@yahoo.com.

 

Coed Commissioner:

  1. Standings are as follows:

 

1st division: Allies/Outback

2nd division:  Houston AA/ Sabotage

3rd division: Scorpions/IBF

4th division: Olympia/Buffalo Wild Wings

5th division: Houston City/ Team Zia

  1. Reschedules are online.
  2. Please let Marisa know of any ideas for awards

 

Field Coordinator

Stephen was absent. Jen presided.

 

1.      Still looking for new fields -- any comments or suggestions let Stephen know.

2.      We can now use Blossom Heights field for the spring, also another field in Spring Branch that we might be able to use.

3.      Any feedback about the G.O.A.L.S complex let Jen or Stephen know. Also women’s team might be able to use on Sundays in the spring season.

 

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS

 

Membership

1.      If looking for players let Mike Strawn and Heather Correll know.

 

Tourney

  1. The Oktoberfest Tourney went well; we made $1,500. The money will go into our field fund.
  2. We had 3 HWSA teams make it to finals:  Nomads, Fever and Alliance. Fever won their division. Congrats!!!
  3. Quickfoot will have two short-sided tourneys next spring:  4v4 on January 19 and 6v6 on May 18.
  4. Austin Longjohns Coed tournament in January; info will be posted on the website.
  5. Coed intratourney is a one day event; each team gets 3 games but are short games, 20 minute halves, all at Alief, and we will have a cookout afterwards. No standings and no awards make the tournament as cheap as possible. Tentatively on Sunday, February 3rd. Any suggestions please let Jen know.
  6. Need a volunteer to organize all the tournament stuff; if anyone is interested let Jen know.

 

OLD BUSINESS

    

     1. Revised Constitution and Bylaws small changes and change in wording of D&P in Article 12P. Revision of Constitution and Bylaws were approved as submitted.   

 

NEW BUSINESS

                             Field Coordinator: Stephen Jump- Unanimous

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

1.      Soccer Clinics: Skills Clinic for women and Goalie skills clinic for any skills level on Saturday December 1 at Alief from 9:30 to 11. Please RSVP.

2.      NCAA final 4 for women’s soccer is at SMU this December; the ticket info is on the flyer. Also next year the Men’s final 4 is at SMU and the Women’s final 4 is at Austin.

3.      No December meeting; the next meeting is on Wednesday, January 9th.
