MINUTES:
Minutes for the August 7, 2002 meeting were posted on the
website; notice of posting was emailed to everyone. Approval of minutes from the August 7, 2002 meeting was postponed
until secretary can verify presence/absence
of several coed teams at that meeting.
Note: If anyone is not receiving notice of the minutes, let the secretary know.
President:
1. WUSA exhibition match
· Game scheduled for October 19.
· 2,900 tickets have been sold to date (approximately 60% of venue capacity).
· Sales are picking up and a sellout is possible.
· Tickets are still available for the women’s clinic the morning of the game at $35/each (online only; includes clinic, t-shirt and ticket to game).
· Volunteers needed for game between 2:00 and 8:00 pm game day.
· Flyers available; info posted on the website.
2. Elections scheduled for November meeting: President, Secretary, and Field Coordinator. Anyone interested in running for these positions should contact Jen Cooper.
Vice President:
1. D&P committee activity: Red cards – three ejections for violent conduct were adjudicated by the D&P Committee with five-game suspensions and either $25 or $50 fines. Since this is a recreational league, please ask your players play accordingly. Ineligible player – a team was found to have played an ineligible player. Sanctions included a $100 fine and forfeit of the game.
2. The Vice President requested a meeting with Messrs Reyes and Palacios from the Olympia V coed team (neither was present).
3. D&P committee – volunteers were solicited to reconstitute the D&P committee. Lester Saucier, J.C. Romanda, King Farias, Jim Breaux, and Chris Harrison agreed to serve.
Secretary:
No report.
Tom Whitehurst is filling in for Sandra Schneider who is out of town. If you
missed roll call, check in with Tom after meeting. If you don’t, you will be
marked absent. Once the minutes are approved, no more arguments.
Registrar:
1. Reps who are expecting cards should see the registrar after the meeting. Cards are usually not mailed out right before a meeting.
2. The state association has changed administrators. Previously, the administrator was in Houston, but the new one is in Austin. Therefore, it will be harder to get player ID cards and stickers. Team reps should conserve those on hand. Also, teams need to make sure to get all players registered prior to the deadline two weeks before the end of each season. (In the past this deadline has been interpreted loosely since the administrator was in town.)
3. Teams going to tournaments should not wait until the last minute to get all cards and other registration materials from the registrar.
Treasurer:
·
Income for year to date (beginning September 1) is $37,871,
mostly from player fees; most of this will be paid out to TSSAS later in the
year.
·
$4,762 has been paid out, mostly for fields and referee
assignor fees.
·
The treasurer needs to see reps from Bunker Hill Bruisers,
Milagros, and La Pandilla.
·
Field invoices are available for Arsenal, Katy Kicks, and
United teams.
